California Friendship Star quilt

After two year of hand sewing and quilting finally it is finished. It is a very scrappy quilt I used smaller pieces to make larger pieces. I think the stars work.

Here is a close up you can see some of the quilting.

Finished Scrappy Quilt.

I have finished a very scrappy quilt nearly all done by hand, except for adding the borders.

This is while it is still on the frame I have not taken a finished photo yet. What I noticed was the difference different fabric had on the wadding which was Dream Cotton non bleached. On some there was no bearding at all, while other fabric there was alot of bearding.

This shows bearding on the dark blue and black fabrics.

This shows bearding on the plain purple while the other fabric is OK.

This shows very little bearding.

A lot of the fabric which did beard was Kona plain fabric but not all, because the quilt is made up of very different fabrics it was interesting to see that some fabric breaded more than others, as the wadding is often blamed but may be it’s the fabric and wadding together.I used Empress mills hand quilting thread which is quite thick, a purple one across the whole quilt. I will take a finished photo sometime.
